Thanksgiving Memories in the Making

by Paula Wagnon on November 16, 2012

For many people, the month of November brings forth fond memories of past family gatherings around a traditional Thanksgiving table decorated with fabulous fall flowers and a smorgasbord of delightful dishes to tempt the taste buds. Along with these memories, most of us look forward to the expectation of continuing this family tradition in the present year, making more memories to pass along to our children and grandchildren.

Thoughts of the table spread with turkey and dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, macaroni and cheese, beans, and potato salad is enough to make the mouth water in anticipation of the delicious meal ahead. Of course, the meal would not be complete without one of those homemade sweet potato, pumpkin, or pecan pies for dessert….mmmm—mmm, I can hardly wait!

Taking Your Thanksgiving Table from Beautiful to Breathtaking

Flowers make a beautiful addition to any Thanksgiving table setting. Though floral arrangements are not edible, they do bring an added cheerfulness to your Thanksgiving celebration. Centerpieces with bright fall flowers add just the right finishing touch to the décor. Golden yellows, rich rusts, honey oranges, and vibrant reds blend together to create a welcoming scene for your guests. Incorporate a candle or two into the centerpiece for an even more comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

These lovely flower arrangements in an array of fall colors make a great showing in either rustic baskets, or elegant vases, and should be chosen according to the style of décor you have in mind. If you are unsure of which would fit your setting better, your local florist is always happy to assist you.

Another great idea for your Thanksgiving décor is adding a cornucopia filled with brightly colored fresh fall flowers. Cornucopias, or “Horn of Plenty”, remind us of the bounty of Thanksgiving and make a fitting centerpiece for your dining area, sitting room, or entry way. Cornucopias are also lovely when filled with a mixture of fresh flowers and dried botanicals, fruits and vegetables, or a combination of all.

Fresh flowers and Thanksgiving celebrations just seem to go hand in hand; both have a way of lifting the spirits and reminding us to be ever thankful for the many blessings we have. Whether a cornucopia, fresh floral centerpiece, potted chrysanthemum, or something in a permanent botanical, Buds ‘n Bows Flower Shop in Crawford, Ga. can help to make your Thanksgiving celebration more memorable with flowers.
