All Things In God’s Good Time

by Paula Wagnon on November 2, 2014

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

It is believed that King Solomon, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote these words approximately 3,000 years ago. Yet, as with all of God’s Word, they are ageless words, and still ring true today.   Indeed, all things which God has set into motion have a time and purpose.  It is through prayer, meditation, and seeking the Lord’s direction that we discover when those times are, and just what that purpose is.

The Making of a Florist

As a young woman, in the Spring of my life, I met my husband Keith. Through his family’s business, I was introduced to the wonderful world of floral design.  While helping in that same business, I soon discovered I had a love for the arranging, designing, and creating of unique floral arrangements; and so, a florist was born.

Over the years, I have had many wonderful opportunities to express myself in a field which I love, while, at the same time, helping others to express what is in their hearts. I have also had the opportunity to see the faces of the people who are on the receiving end of the arrangements that are created especially for them, a truly heartwarming experience. Each arrangement, each experience, each person, each moment, has given and taught more than I could ever explain, and I am so thankful for each one.

A Business of Our Own

After several years of working with others in the floral industry, Keith and I were given the opportunity to purchase our existing business, Buds ‘n Bows Flower Shop; this was early in January 1995. At the time of purchase, the shop was operating in Watkinsville, Ga, and in 1997 the Lord provided the way for us to move the business to our hometown of Crawford, Ga.  Early in the year 2000, we once again took a leap of faith and followed the leading of our Lord to move the business to its present location at 303 Park Avenue – Crawford, Georgia. This has been the home of Buds ‘n Bows Flower Shop ever since.

We have had the honor and privilege to have been a part of so many wonderful and exciting times in our customer’s lives!  Weddings and anniversaries, births of new babies, birthday parties, first days of school, and many first dates.  Graduations, homecoming dances and sports events—and oh the wonder of the proms and all those beautiful dresses!

There were holidays and special days, fun times and loving times, and every so often there were just because times. There were good times and bad times, happy times and sad times. And, there were painful times; times our hearts broke for you as you trusted us to be a part of your time of loss and grief. And, we were honored that you felt we had earned your trust.  Over the last 20 years, you have become like family to us, and it is for this very reason that the decision at hand has been a difficult one.

A Season To Let Go

For the past few years we have felt that the Lord has been, once again, preparing us for a change with the business.  Many times we have felt the hand of God leading us to the point of making that change, yet there is the question “Is this God’s will, or our want?” So we take another step, live another day, say another prayer, and wait for His divine guidance to come through clearly. We now believe that clarity has come.

“….A time to every purpose under the heaven” is something to keep in mind at all times.  Though we are the official legal owners of the business, in actuality we are but stewards of this business. The true owner is our Father God, our Lord Jesus Christ. He has allowed us to serve Him in the capacity of “Florist” and in turn, serve you, our customers and friends. Now is the time to place this business completely in the hands of the One to whom it rightfully belongs, and to trust Him fully, without hesitation, in the decision and the changes He makes concerning it. Yes, now is the time to “let go and let God”.

Winds of Change

And so, with this letter, it officially becomes public knowledge that the business, Buds ‘n Bows Flower Shop, is for sale. We know that if it is indeed God’s will for His business to change hands of stewardship, it will sell to the person whom He has already prepared to purchase it.  We also know that if it is His will that we continue in our current position, perhaps with changes of a different type, then He will, in His infinite wisdom, provide the energy and motivation for us to do so, as well as the knowledge of the direction which He would have us to take it.

We humbly thank you for all the years of your loyal support and friendship; it has truly been a blessing. Whatever the outcome may be, there is no doubt that our Lord will take care of us, His business, and all of those who belong to Him. The winds of change are approaching, and though we do not know what the future holds, I praise the Lord that Keith and I know who holds the future.

I know this has been a difficult decision for you. I hate to hear the news but I am also very excited for you. I want to thank you for all the beautiful things that you have done for me and I can honestly 100 percent say I was never disappointed in anything that I ordered. My God continue to bless you and Keith in whatever path you take.
